Canadian consultant attacked by Mat Rempit

SEREMBAN: A 43-year-old Canadian consultant on a job assignment here escaped serious injury when a group of Mat Rempit attacked him along Jalan Rasah on Saturday night.

Manjit Sokhal from Montreal, who comes here to work at a branch office three to four times annually, was driving his four-wheel drive at about 11pm with three friends from India when a car suddenly pulled up in front.

Some 40 Mat Rempit on motorcycles then surrounded his vehicle.

“When I wound down my window to inquire, one of them punched me. He also hit my face with a helmet,” said Manjit Singh, adding that he was injured in his left eye and mouth.

Manjit Singh said the Mat Rempit then went on to damage his vehicle’s rear lights, wipers and number plates.

“It was the most harrowing experience. I was assaulted for no reason,” he said.

Manjit Singh said the motorcyclists warned him to be careful as he was a foreigner.

Manjit Singh claimed that he was not aware what prompted the attack but felt it could be due to his slow speed of 40kph.

He lodged a report at the Seremban Two police station the same night, and also met Rahang assemblyman Datuk Yip Chee Kiong.

Yip urged the police to haul up those responsible, adding that the country’s image was at stake.

Mat Rempit ride into new careers

Home CCTV catches robbery

By AIZAT SHARIF

TERRIFYING photos that you rarely see.

These bone-chilling pictures show a daring, murderous attack in progress.

The brazen assault, carried out with lighting speed and split-second timing, was captured in horrific detail by the family’s CCTV cameras and raises concerns about neighbourhood security.

The 78-second clip posted on the video-sharing website YouTube showed the attack in all its alarming clarity.

In the incident at Taman Maluri, Cheras, six men, ominously clad in black, rode in on three motorcycles. They stopped in front of the house belonging to 37-year-old clerk Candy Teoh and her
husband Lim Gim Leong, 40, just as the couple’s friend, Alvin Chua, 39, pulled up in front of the house for a visit.

As Chua got out of his Nissan Cefiro and walked to the front gate, he noticed one of the six men getting off his motorcycle. He had a machete in his hand.

That’s when Chua ducked and took off running towards his friend’s house. The assailant was close on his heels, swinging at him and just barely missing.

Just seconds earlier, Teoh had driven in and parked her Toyota Altis in the porch after doing some grocery shopping.

Her husband was at work at the time. The couple’s Indonesian maid was in the middle of closing the wrought-iron gates when she saw Chua being chased by a parangwielding man. She panicked,
fumbled for the lock and then ran for her life, with Chua close behind.

In his haste, Chua lost his footing and fell to the ground.

Meanwhile, Teoh, terrified and fearing for her life, sat frozen in the car as the assailants took control of the situation.

The 78-second footage showed two men entering the compound, taking valuables from Chua. The others on two bikes cordoned off and secured the area. They could be seen in the background,
positioning their bikes to enable them to make a quick getaway.

At least two men inside the compound were armed with machetes. They all had their crash helmets on.

One of the men who had entered the compound then saw Teoh, cowering inside her Altis.

“He told my wife to open the door and threatened to smash the windows if she refused. After my wife did as she was told, he pointed the machete at her and demanded for her money,” said Lim.

After grabbing the loot, the men sped off on their bikes, heading off in one direction. Teoh was clearly still traumatised by the incident that happened on March 16 at 2.57pm and refused to talk
to Malay Mail.

Lim said his wife lost her handbag, RM30 and other items such as her handphone, her MyKad and credit cards.

Chua lost his wallet , which contained RM300, his handphone, credit card and MyKad.

A report was lodged at the Cheras police station.

Selangor police to come down hard on Mat Rempit

PETALING JAYA: Selangor police will come down hard on Mat Rempit, and police personnel who fail to act on public complaints against the menace will face disciplinary action.

State Deputy Police Chief Sen Asst Comm I Datuk Jamshah Mustapa said police have been closely monitoring the problem and would continue to conduct operations throughout the state.

He said all district police chiefs in Selangor had been directed to increase their operations to crackdown on the Mat Rempit.

“We will not tolerate any such activities especially when they start committing crimes like robberies, snatch thefts and assaults.

“Members of the public who have information as to where Mat Rempit are hanging out or gathering should contact the nearest police station immediately,’’ he said.

SAC Jamshah assured the public that police would act on their reports immediately failing which stern action would be taken against the errant police personnel concerned.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohd said in over 1,000 operations conducted in the district between January 2008 and March this year, police arrested 72 mat rempit, resulting in fewer crimes committed by them.

So far this year, only two cases involving Mat Rempit crimes were reported in the district, involving a 38-year-old Filipino who was attacked by 15 mat rempit with a metal pipe, causing her to almost lose consciousness.

The same group were also believed to have punched a woman before robbing her of her handbag.

Parliament in Brief: Why Mat Rempit are idolised

FREEDOM, money, women and the sense of heroism are among the reasons why Mat Rempit are idolised by the young, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Wee Jeck Seng told the House yesterday.

"Our study shows that 84.1 per cent become Mat Rempit to fill their spare time, 37 per cent because of friends and 27 per cent because of the great feeling they have after a race," he said replying to a question by Loke Siew Fook (DAP-Rasah) on the programmes taken by the ministry to solve Mat Rempit problems which have become a public nuisance.

He said Mat Rempit, aged between 18 to 25 were now being rehabilitated by the ministry through various programmes.

Scene from Remp-it

Heartless attack on Filipina by group of Mat Rempit

By STEVEN DANIEL

PETALING JAYA: Marilou C. Pingol has been targeted by robbers thrice in the past five months, leaving her traumatised and terrified.

Her latest encounter was with a group of 15 Mat Rempit in Kelana Jaya on Tuesday morning.

Not content with hitting her twice on the head with a metal pipe, causing her to almost lose consciousness, her heartless attackers then held on to her hands and dragged her about 2m along the rough road.

The 38-year-old Filipino, a market researcher who commutes daily on the LRT to her workplace in Kuala Lumpur, recalled the horrible incident while recuperating at her aunt’s home in Jalan SS5C, Kelana Jaya, yesterday.

“I was walking to the nearby Kelana Jaya LRT station at around 6am on Tuesday with my cousin when a group of 15 people on 10 motorcycles suddenly pulled up in front of us near SS4C and demanded that I hand over my handbag.

“Five of them pulled my cousin a short distance away and threatened him with three parangs, while the remaining Mat Rempit circled me,” said Marilou, who has lived and worked in Malaysia for 10 years.

She pleaded with the Mat Rempit not to harm them and said they could take her handbag but asked to be allowed to keep her passport.

They agreed but as she was searching her handbag, one of them hit her twice on the head with a metal pipe, leaving her dizzy and semi-conscious.

She added that her attackers then rode off but stopped five metres away and turned back.

“Two pillion riders grabbed my hands and dragged me on the road for about two metres, shredding my pants around the knees and buttocks,” she said.

Her cousin, Ronald Rocutar, 38, could only watch helplessly in horror as she screamed in pain.

Unable to get transport to rush her to hospital, Ronald called his nephew and they carried the bloodied Marilou to the nearby Kelana Jaya police station to lodge a report before taking her to a nearby dental clinic where her aunt works as a nurse to dress the wounds.

“I am now terrified to walk to the LRT station, even though the road is lit and with another person accompanying me. The criminals are becoming more daring and heartless,” said Marilou, who has deep abrasions on her knees and can’t walk for the time being.

She added that in November last year, her handbag was almost snatched right in front of her house and, on Dec 31, she was forced to hand over her handbag at knife-point.

Minah rempit tak bermaruah: Aksi lucah melampau

Monday, March 2, 2009

Oleh ZAINUDDIN ZAIN dan ASMIZAN MOHD SAMIRAN
metahad@hmetro.com.my

Mat rempit kepala angin

Oleh Mohd Azis Ngah
azis@bharian.com.my

Operasi membanteras kegiatan lumba haram.

    Kajian:

  • pembabitan Mat Rempit dalam Jenayah (560 responden)
  • Faktor Pembabitan Mat Rempit (100 responden)
  • Mat Rempit dan Hubungan dengan Masalah Sosial (108 responden)

    Kawasan kajian:

  • Zon Utara (Kedah dan Pulau Pinang)
  • Zon Tengah (Kuala Lumpur dan Perak)
  • Zon Pantai Timur (Terengganu dan Kelantan)
  • Zon Selatan (Johor).

    Atara geng mat rempit:

  • Apache (Kuala Lumpur)
  • Budak Shell (Kuala Lumpur)
  • Man Botak (Pantai Timur)
  • Man Kerinting (Pantai Timur)
  • Skuter Boys (Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur)

Jenis motosikal paling popular digunakan mat rempit:

  • Yamaha RXZ
  • Honda EX5
  • Yamaha Nuovo
  • Suzuki 100
  • Modenas Kriss

    Cadangan:

Melihat tindakan kumpulan lelaki terbabit bertindak keterlaluan, anggota polis terpaksa melepaskan dua das tembakan amaran bagi mengawal keadaan menyebabkan kumpulan Mat Rempit terbabit tersentak.

Brutalised in Bangsar by Mat Rempits

VIOLENT crime in progress: These pictures tell how 14 Mat Rempit ganged up to beat and rob five women during an early morning fuel stop in Bangsar.

A CCTV surveillance camera captured the attack on the three sisters and two of their cousins at the Shell petrol station in Jalan Bangsar.

Traumatised, they have vowed never to go to a petrol station again after dark.

Twelve young thugs, on six motorcycles, were said to be 'hovering around the station' while a pair on another motorcycle filled up as the women drove in about 3.30am on Saturday.

They were on their way home after a function in Puchong. Sisters Uma Munusamy, 33, Chittra, 32, and Latha, 31, were to drop off cousins Ragas Letchumanan, 28, and Komala, 20, at their Bangsar home when they decided to stop for fuel.

They drove up to a pump at the station. Latha went to the window counter to pay, while Chittra, who was driving, got out to fill up. That was when the Mat Rempit, who had been noisy and boisterous, moved in, as if acting on cue.

One thug attacked Latha, splashing a can of 'Red Bull' energy drink on her face. The sweet-sour liquid stung her eyes, temporarily blinding her as the thug pushed her down, hit her with the drink can and snatched her gold chain and handphone.

Another three dashed to the car to attack the others.

'We were in fear. We thought that we had been splashed with acid, as the liquid they threw on our faces really stung,' said Uma, recalling the attack.

The women screamed for help, but none arrived. The petrol station workers were safe and sound, inside the premises, where the doors had been locked at midnight.

'The workers just stood there, watching,' said Latha. At the car, the Mat Rempit ordered the girls to hand over their valuables and handphones. One of them just couldn't wait. He yanked Uma's gold bracelet off one wrist and at the same time snatched the handphone she held in the other hand. Despite fearing for their lives, the girls put up a fight, trying to

prevent the robbers from getting away with their belongings. The scuffles only led to injuries, but fortunately, minor ones.

Ragas was hit on the head several times, while Chittra sustained injuries on her neck and right arm, besides suffering an injury to the lower lip. She was then beaten up with a soda can.

The whole incident really traumatised us but what was worse was the fact the workers did not even bother to help,' said Uma.

This is one nightmare they do not ever want to experience again. And, for them at least, no more filling up fuel at night, or stopping anywhere either during the wee hours. Their total loss: RM3,000 in cash and valuables.

The five made a report at the Brickfields police station soon after recovering from the shock of the attack. Police said they are investigating, and have yet to identify the culprits.

The women also expressed their frustration over the Mat Rempit menace. 'So much has been said, so much anger and frustration has been expressed over these motorcycle thugs... but yet they seem to be having a free run,' said Chittra.

Their only hope is that justice will be done, that the CCTV images captured by the surveillance camera will lead to arrests and conviction.

    Apache Sereng Sebar Ideologi

    Sunday, March 1, 2009

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

“Biasanya malam minggu paling mendapat sambutan berbanding hari lain.

    Senseless love for Mat Rempi

IN the movies, the hero is one of the coolest characters, performing amazing stunts with ease while escaping injury.

After overcoming seemingly insurmountable challenges, he wins the heart of the pretty lass and rides off into the sunset.

In real life, however, total disregard for safety to perform stunts on public roads while in an intimate embrace is hardly a wise act.

Common sense has been blown away by the rushing breeze in Puchong Prima as this motorcyclist has opted to guide the vehicle with his feet!

His passenger too has taken leave of her senses as she cuddles the rider while holding onto the safety helmet.

    Bartender attacked by mat rempits

A BARTENDER who tried to help a motorcyclist fleeing from a group of mat rempits was assaulted and injured by them.

Chai Kok Ping, 38, sustained cuts on his head and body in the incident outside a cafe in Taiping on Sunday.

Recalling the incident at a press conference organised by Aulong assemblyman Yew Tian Hoe yesterday, Chai said the 20-year-old motorcyclist barged into the cafe about 1am to seek refuge.

Assault victim: Yew showing the injuries on Chai's head.

“The motorcyclist said he was being chased by a group of mat rempits and I told him to lodge a report with the police,” he said.

“Within minutes, I heard shouts before the cafe glass entrance was shattered by stones.

“I was assaulted when I went out to investigate. A colleague quickly pulled me back into the cafe, sparing me from further harm,” said Chai who later received 32 stitches for the wounds at the Taiping Hospital.

Chai claimed that although the police arrived in three patrol cars immediately after the incident, no attempt was made by the policemen to apprehend the mat rempits who were on about 60 motorcycles.

Chai claimed that when he was being treated at the hospital, a police officer said that he (Chai) would be arrested.

“Where is justice? I was assaulted for helping the motorcyclist but I am being arrested too?” he asked.

Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Raja Musa Raja Razak said when policemen arrived at the scene, the group of motorcyclists who assaulted Chai immediately fled the scene.

“We are not arresting Chai but he is among those being investigated because after the assault, Chai’s fellow workers or friends vented their anger on an innocent man who was passing by on his motorcycle at about 2.45am.

“The innocent passer-by was not only assaulted but his motorcycle was also set on fire,” said ACP Raja Musa, adding that no suspect had been arrested so far in connection with the case.

ACP Raja Musa said police conducted operations every weekend to apprehend mat rempits, adding that so far, more than 70 mat rempits had their motorcycles seized. They have been charged under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Duo in hospital after assault by 50 Mat Rempits

    By M. KUMAR

KUALA LUMPUR: Two men had to be hospitalised after they were allegedly beaten up by about 50 Mat Rempits who then robbed them in Jalan Pahang, Titiwangsa, near here.

According to one of the victims, Parminder Singh, the incident was supposedly witnessed by a man who looked like a plain-clothes police officer, as he was in possession of a firearm.

“The man not only did nothing to help us but instead urged the assailants to beat us harder,” said Parminder. 21.

The incident happened in the wee hours of last Wednesday when Parminder along with his friend, Sunildip Singh, 25, were travelling in a car towards the city when suddenly a Mat Rempit swerved in front of them and demanded they stepped out of the vehicle.

“When we alighted, we found ourselves suddenly surrounded by about 50 Mat Rempits. Some of them accused us of ramming into the guy who swerved in front of us,” said Parminder.

Without warning, several of the Mat Rempits began beating them with helmets, iron rods and knuckle dusters.

Sunildip, who had his jaw fractured in three places, said there was no way to defend themselves as more Mat Rempits joined in the assault, adding that he fainted soon after.

The mob then took his wallet and cellphone.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Zakaria Pagan confirmed the incident but said the victim did not mention anything about seeing a plain-clothes policeman at the scene of the assault.

“Investigations are under way. We estimated the number of Mat Rempits to be around 20 based on the victim’s report.”

ACP Zakaria said the police would contact the victim to obtain more details on the alleged policeman.
